All JBN events are on the JBN Parent calendar
JB Nelson Families,
Our students enjoyed their last S.T.E.A.M. party of the year this afternoon which were based on picture books. A huge “Thank you” to all of the parents that volunteered their time to support these parties.
KEEP LOOKING FOR THOSE LRC BOOKS! Every day more are returned, we are now down to 250 books that still need to be returned.
It is so hard to believe that Field Day is coming next Wednesday!
If it is raining on Field Day we will move the event inside, change the games and eliminate some stations. We WILL still need parent volunteers.
Next Thursday is our “All School Tug”. All classes in grades 3-5 as well as any teachers that sign up will participate in an old fashioned tug of war on the field. This is a JBN tradition and all parents are welcome to come to the field and watch from 1:30-3:00. We then return inside the building and “clap out” the 5th grade students at 3:20. Parents are invited to “chalk the walk” for their 5th grade students. If it is raining on the “School Tug” day we will NOT move this event inside as we would not be able to ensure the safety of all students in replicating this event in our gym. If it is raining, this event will be cancelled. We will “Clap out” the 5th grade students if it is raining, so encourage hoods if the weather report is looking like rain!
Tonight we have our end of the year Movie Night on the Field. The students voted for Despicable Me 4! Families are invited to bring picnic blankets and pillows to lounge on the lawn. Pre-show set up will begin at 7:00 and the movie will start at 7:45. The PTO will give one bag of popcorn to each child that attends and there will be snacks and glow sticks for sale. There is also a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds will go toward the 4th grade SPringfield trip next year.
I truly cannot believe that next week is our last week of school.
Enjoy your weekend and we will see you on Monday!

For the month of May, our focus is on Community
Community and teamwork means working together as a group to support and help each other. It’s about sharing ideas, listening to others, and solving problems as a team. When we work as a community, we create a positive space where everyone feels valued, included, and ready to learn. Teamwork helps us reach goals together, celebrate each other’s strengths, and build lasting friendships. It’s not about doing everything alone—it’s about working side by side and lifting each other up
Students are learning and reflecting on their classroom communities and our school wide community at JB.
