Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

Many public records for Batavia Public Schools are immediately available from our website, www.bps101.net. Full access to the District’s public records is available to any person as perscribed by Illinois law through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

Requests for Public Records

A request for inspection or copies of public records must be made in writing and may be submitted by email to information@bps101.net, personal delivery, or U.S. mail to:

A Freedom of Information Act Officer will respond to information requests within 5 business days after the receipt of a request. Inspection or copying of public records is subject to an approved access. A FOIA Officer may extend the time for a response for up to 5 additional business days if the person requesting information is notified of the reason for the delay or written agreement with the person requesting records is reached on a compliance period.

Any person making a request for copies of public records must pay an applicable copying fee ($0.35-$0.40 per page). No fees shall be charged for the first 50 pages of black and white, letter or legal copies. No fee will be charged for electronic copies other than the cost of the recording medium. The inspection of public records is permitted at the Rosalie Jones Administration Center, 335 W. Wilson, Batavia, IL 60510, during regular business hours.

The Board of Education has appointed Lisa Hichens, Kathy Scaffidi, Kris Monn, Anton Inglese, Brad Newkirk and Steve Pearce as Freedom of Information Act Officers.
