Principal’s Message
JB Nelson Families, We had another busy week! All K-5 students completed their Spring MAP assessment in Reading and Math. They also were assessed using the AIMS measure which focuses on their fluency when reading passages. We had the Kane County Cougars game last night and after school today we will hold our annual “Fun Run”. Due to weather we had to move it inside but we are very excited about the fun interactive stations that parents will be leading throughout the building. Our goal was to raise $6,500 and so far we have raised $4,563. Thank you for your support of this fundraiser to help our PTO to send students on field trips, give all students a birthday surprise, and to support fun FREE events such as “Trick or Treat”! We have heard parent feedback about the amount of events in the month of May and we are looking at moving the schoolwide fundraiser to the fall next year in order to take one of our big events out of May. We are also looking to move Teacher Appreciation week so that it is not the same week as the Spring Social. We don’t have much control over the Kane Cougars reading program, as they give us the dates later in the year, but by taking events out and moving things around we should be able to limit the events and not have multiple in one week. Thank you for your feedback. We are very excited to bring back our Field day. This will be on Wednesday, May 24th and will be a half day experience for ALL students K-5. We still need some parent volunteers to help run the games. Please sign up: https://jbnpto. We hope you enjoy your Mothers day weekend and we will see you on Monday! ~Mrs. Prentiss |

Backpack MailBPS101 often receives requests from community organizations to distribute informational fliers to students in their backpacks. In an effort to be environmentally conscientious, we use an electronic format to deliver this information, which we call “Backpack Mail.” |
