JB Nelson Families,
Thank you to all the families that attended our PTO meeting on Tuesday and our Spring Social/Book Fair last night. It was fun to celebrate our students’ accomplishments in art and get some hands on art time! The Chorus did a great job closing the event.
It has come to my attention that for some reason the Messenger I scheduled to send last week did NOT in fact get out to JBN families. I apologize for that. Please note that staff is working on class lists tomorrow afternoon. We do not take requests for teachers, but you can share what teaching style works best for your child. I will take requests until 9:00 PM tonight in order to give working parents a chance to read this and respond. I then organize all requests and share them with each team before they start the process. Please know we do our best to think about teacher fit as well as student dynamics as we create lists.
The 19th Annual 5th grade All City Track & Field event is coming up on May 13th at 4:00 at BHS. All students must register by April 22nd. Please refer to these documents for more details: flyer and permission slip
The staff has an institute day and the students do not have school tomorrow!
We hope you enjoy your three day weekend and we will see you on Monday!

For the month of April, our focus is on Motivation
Motivation is the feeling or energy that helps us want to do something. It’s like the “fuel” that helps us try our best, even when things are hard. When we’re motivated, we stay focused on our goals and keep going, whether it’s finishing a task, learning something new, or helping a friend. Motivation comes from inside us, but it can also come from others, like when a teacher encourages us or we think about the rewards for doing our best. It helps us believe we can do anything if we keep trying!
Students are learning about using perseverance to overcome challenges! Specifically, how to adjust mindsets by pausing, reflecting, and setting new goals to keep motivation when facing challenges!
