JB Nelson Families,
We loved welcoming all of our students back to school this week!
Our Spring Social is next week on Wednesday the 16th from 5:30-7:00. What is the Spring Social you might be asking? It is when we invite all families into the building to look at our student art show on ALL of our hallway walls!
We also have our Spring Book Fair in the LRC, and the students that are in the Chorus sing on the stage to close out the event at 7:20. We do not serve ice cream at the event, however that night from 4:00-8:00 is our Culvers night for JBN so you could got to dinner before the event or get some frozen custard afterward!
We will hold our monthly PTO meeting next Tuesday from 6:30-8:00 in the LRC. All families are a part of the PTO at no charge and there is free childcare provided each month for those that attend. Some of the topics we will be discussing include the new “Chill Zone” that will be added to the playground this summer and Teacher Appreciation Week in May.
Do you have a child that will be turning 5 years old by September 1, 2025? Enrollment is open for Kindergarten 2025-26. All families are encouraged to enroll online using our online Enrollment Portal. All families that enroll their Kindergarteners by March 28, 2025 will be invited to an exclusive Sneak Peek at JBN on April 30th!
The 19th Annual 5th grade All City Track & Field event is coming up on May 13th at 4:00 at BHS. All students must register by April 22nd. Please refer to these documents for more details: flyer and permission slip
Our staff will begin the process of creating class lists for next year in the following weeks. While we do not take parent requests for certain teachers, you can send a request for a type of classroom at: nicole.prentiss@bps101.net The deadline for this will be next Thursday the 17th.
We hope you enjoy your weekend and we will see you on Monday!

For the month of April, our focus is on Motivation
Motivation is the feeling or energy that helps us want to do something. It’s like the “fuel” that helps us try our best, even when things are hard. When we’re motivated, we stay focused on our goals and keep going, whether it’s finishing a task, learning something new, or helping a friend. Motivation comes from inside us, but it can also come from others, like when a teacher encourages us or we think about the rewards for doing our best. It helps us believe we can do anything if we keep trying!
Students are learning about using perseverance to overcome challenges! Specifically, how to adjust mindsets by pausing, reflecting, and setting new goals to keep motivation when facing challenges!
