JB Nelson Families,
JB Nelson Spirit wear is NOW ON SALE!!

Orders will be delivered to the school and will arrive in time for the holidays if you want to give some as gifts. There are some new additions such as water bottles (your child’s name can be engraved on them!!) that are worth checking out.
Veterans day is coming and we will be honoring our Veterans this upcoming Friday, November 10th with a before school breakfast in our cafeteria at 8:30 that is followed by a whole school assembly in the gym that begins at 9:15. Paperwork came home with your children last week, please RSVP if you will be bringing Veterans to these events.
So far, we have 49 Veterans that have RSVP’d that they will attend our breakfast and assembly. Please contact your child’s teacher or the office if you have any questions.

Opportunities for Students

FAMILY LITERACY NIGHT COMING! Tuesday, November 14th 5:45-7:30 PM The response from JB Nelson families has been outstanding! Over 95% of families have opted to keep reading the Be A Changemaker books with their students. The kids are so excited to bring back their passports and get a new book to take home. The first week we had 330 students come through the LRC to return their slips and get a raffle ticket to win a gift certificate to the spring book fair. Thank you for helping make this such a success.
Art Club!

1st Trimester Breakfast with Books
The LRC will be hosting a Breakfast With Books discussion on Tuesday, November 7th at 8am in LRC. Students in 4th-5th grade. Please sign up using this form. Please email julie.phillips@bps101.net with any questions.
Batavia Special-Education Parent Network (BSPN) Family Event
Please join Batavia Special-Education Parent Network (BSPN) for a family event at Color Me Mine, Geneva this Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. Color Me Mine has opened their doors to BSPN for ceramic painting for our kids & adults with special needs and their families/caregivers. Space is limited and reservations are required to guarantee a spot. To RSVP, please call the studio at 630-262-9000 and mention ‘BSPN Event’. There is a $5.00 studio fee per person painting at time of sign up and families are responsible to pay for their ceramic pieces at the event. 2023/2024 Yearbook information!
We are using Treering again as our Yearbook vendor. They allow you to customize 2 free pages with your own photos and memories, plus $.99 for each additional 2 pages if needed. These extra pages make it so fun and personal, and they will appear only in your yearbook(s). Custom pages are able to be purchased and edited until April 6th. Cub Scouts
Join Pack 153
Interested in exciting events and making new friends? Cub Scout Pack 153 is currently accepting new scouts into our 2023-2024 program and are forming new dens at every grade level, K-5. Upcoming events include:
- Nov 12th- Pack Hike, 1p
- Nov 16th- Pack Meeting and RC Car Rally

Open Committee Positions
We have a few open positions for Committee Chairs on some PTO/JB activities! Available committees include: BoxTops, LRC, Teacher Prep, S.T.E.A.M. lab, and Teacher Appreciation! Just navigate to the Committees area of the PTO website and click on any of these open committees to sign up! Our PTO has a binder of information to provide you with all the tools you need for your committee. As always, if you’re curious but have questions, just email us or attend a monthly meeting and ask!
Box Tops
2023-2024 Goal: $200
Current total: $67.40 ~ 5th grade is leading, followed by 3rd grade!
Download the apps: Apple Store or Play Store. Make JB Nelson your home school to start scanning. There are some amazing Limited Time Bonus Promos to take advantage of (see pic below)! The app also has a leaderboard to see which JBN grade level has the most tops scanned. Twice a year, our school receives a check from Box Tops to help pay for things, like events or activities for the kids. Receipts are valid to scan for 14 days from purchase date, and can be scanned from any account (so if you don’t scan, just give your receipts to a parent who does!).
