JB Nelson Families,
This Wednesday we celebrated the “School Nurse Appreciation” day and Mrs. Lee definitely felt the love! She will be missed next year as she is retiring at the end of this school year.
We also celebrated the hanging of our”You Belong” school-wide art installation in the lunchroom! Every student at JB Nelson worked with our art teacher Mrs. Bach, and created a classroom mural. All of the class murals were hung as a collection in the lunch room where the students can enjoy their work every day. The inspiration for this was our theme of “You Belong” . Each student chose their color and where to place their dots in a group with other students. Check out the photos on Twitter!
Our first annual ‘Fun Run’ will be held this afternoon and our theme this year is ‘Superhero’s’.
We will invite families to check in and get their “goodie bags” any time between 4:00-5:00 and we will start the running at 5:00. We will end the event with all students being given a medal and a raffle drawing. We added sprinklers for a fun “cool down” activity so make sure you bring a towel.

- 4th Grade Band & Orchestra Recruitment: Current 4th grade families are encouraged to check out the BAND & ORCHESTRA WEBSITE and sign up for an instrument to play in the program next year! Need help deciding which one? Sign up for a GOOGLE MEET to chat with Mrs. Hatfield or come to our INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOO @ RMS on Monday, May 23 to see and hold the instruments you’re interested in!
Breakfast With Books
The LRC will be hosting the last Breakfast With Books discussion on Tuesday, May 17th at 8am in LRC. Students in 4th and 5th grade are all invited to join. Please sign up using this form. Please email julie.phillips@bps101.net with any questions.

Box Tops are worth $.10 each and they add up fast! Twice a year, our school receives a check to help pay for whatever we need – equipment, supplies or experiences the kids love! Receipts are valid for scanning for an entire 14 days. Make sure to designate JB Nelson Elementary School as your home school, and start scanning!
