Principal’s Message
JB Nelson Families, Our students have been enjoying their roller skating unit in PE and are sad to see it come to an end. I try to skate with at least one class every year and had fun skating with some first grade students yesterday. If you look at the “Tweet of the Week” (above) you can also find Mr. Albrecht and Mrs. Meiland skating along to the music too! Last week I sent out information about us starting up Art Appreciation again at JB Nelson. We heard from 4 parents and will be following up with them via email. We still need at least one parent to support Kindergarten, 3rd and 4th grades so if this sounds interesting to you, please sign up here. Our running club will be starting up again on Monday. Students are encouraged to run on Monday and Fridays before school. They can choose to run one of the days or both days. A permission slip was given to students in 4th and 5th grade by Mr. Albrecht in PE. The club will culminate with students being invited to run in the Batavia 5K Fox Trot on April 30th. Our 5th grade students that participate in band and orchestra will be returning to in person practices on Thursdays before school in the Gym. We are excited to hear them making music again and want to remind you that they will not enter the front door, but will enter the blacktop gym door E1. We hope you enjoy your three day weekend with your students as we have a teacher institute day tomorrow so students do not have school! We look forward to seeing our students on Monday! ~Mrs. Prentiss |

JBN Trivia Night Mark your calendars for our annual parents night out! Trivia Night will be on April 23rd. More info coming soon! JBN Family Science Night For those of you who were around a few years ago, you know that we usually hold an in person ‘Family Science Night’ each Spring. The intent of this event is to give all JBN students an opportunity to experience some hands-on science, participate in an interactive science presentation and to create some science of their own if they are interested. This is not a traditional Science Fair, as Ss have several options to participate such as doing an experiment, presenting research of their choosing, or sharing a collection they might have. This event also includes a high interest, interactive presentation about science concepts on the stage. This year, the PTO is planning to bring this back as an in person event on Tuesday, March 15th. We are planning to socially distance all of the students that have a display and limit the number of audience members in the presentation as well as having them socially distanced in the gym. If something changes and we have to pivot to a virtual event we are looking for ways to still have the students present their boards and have a live feed event that all families can view on the event night. Please read this packet for more information about the event and please turn in this form if your child is interested in participating and presenting so we can prepare the spaces and have tables for all students that will present. Mrs. Phillips will be presenting this information to all students in the LRC in the next two weeks as well. JBN Yearbook Have you been capturing fun moments from this year’s school events?
