JB Nelson Families,
This week we kicked off our Picture Book March Madness Tournament. Every day, all classes K-5 listen to 2 picture books and then vote on their favorite. Those books “advance” in the tournament and go up against each other until we have ONE JBN picture book champion! Ask your child what book they have liked the most so far!
We had over 50 students participate in our Family Science Night last night! It was so amazing to see their experiments, collections and demonstrations. A big “thank you” again to the JBN parents who are scientists that agreed to be our “panel” for students to have a Q&A session with.
Looking ahead to next week…Mr. Albrecht is wrapping up his roller skating unit with our annual tradition of a “school skate” at Funway! On Wednesday from 4-6 all JBN families and staff are invited to attend this fun event! Next Friday, the staff will have an institute day which means that all students will NOT have school as they begin their Spring Break.
Do you have a child that will be turning 5 years old by September 1, 2025? Enrollment is open for Kindergarten 2025-26. All families are encouraged to enroll online using our online Enrollment Portal. All families that enroll their Kindergarteners by March 28, 2025 will be invited to an exclusive Sneak Peek at JBN on April 30th!
We hope you enjoy your weekend and we will see you on Monday for our last week before Spring break! Spring break will begin Friday, March 28 and students will return to school on Monday, April 7th.

School-Home connections to help students grow their SEL skills!
BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 3-Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Programs
BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 4-Family & Community Partnerships
All students at JBN learn about social emotional skills in their daily classroom meetings.
All teachers follow the District’s Portrait of a Graduate sequence grades K-5.
For the month of March, our focus is on Conflict Management
Conflict resolution is how we solve problems when we disagree with someone. It means talking, listening, and finding a fair way to fix the problem instead of arguing or fighting. When we use conflict resolution, we stay calm, take turns sharing our feelings, and work together to find a solution that makes everyone feel okay. It helps us build strong friendships and show kindness, even when we don’t agree.
Students are learning about how to identify the size of problems and expected reactions to match. Matching our reactions to the size helps us solve problems in a productive way!
