JB Nelson Families,
My team had a fantastic time competing at the POT Trivia Night last Saturday! It was great to see so many of you at the event, thank you for raising money to support our PTO and our students with field trips and our Chill Zone on the playground!
Thank you to all 3rd-5th grade parents that supported your children in preparing for IAR testing. Students had charged Chromebooks and were ready to go! Also, thank you to all parents that completed the 5 Essentials survey. We met the required 20% threshold in order to get parent feedback included in our data!
Family Science Night is coming next Thursday, March 20th at 5:30. We have 40 student presentations registered for the event and we are excited to welcome a mixture of in person and virtual scientists for students to interact with. There will also be an exciting chemical reaction demonstration at 7:00 in the gym. Please use the old entrance (by the gym) to enter this event. We hope to see you there!
Do you have a child that will be turning 5 years old by September 1, 2025? Enrollment is open for Kindergarten 2025-26. All families are encouraged to enroll online using our online Enrollment Portal. All families that enroll their Kindergarteners by March 28, 2025 will be invited to an exclusive Sneak Peek at JBN on April 30th!
We hope you enjoy your weekend and we will see you on Monday!

BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 3-Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Programs
BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 4-Family & Community Partnerships
All students at JBN learn about social emotional skills in their daily classroom meetings.
All teachers follow the District’s Portrait of a Graduate sequence grades K-5.
For the month of March, our focus is on Conflict Management
Conflict resolution is how we solve problems when we disagree with someone. It means talking, listening, and finding a fair way to fix the problem instead of arguing or fighting. When we use conflict resolution, we stay calm, take turns sharing our feelings, and work together to find a solution that makes everyone feel okay. It helps us build strong friendships and show kindness, even when we don’t agree.
Students are learning about how to identify the size of problems and expected reactions to match. Matching our reactions to the size helps us solve problems in a productive way!
