(Social Emotional Learning) School-Home connections to help students grow their SEL skills! BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 3-Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Programs BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 4-Family & Community Partnerships All students at JBN learn about social emotional skills in their daily classroom meetings. All teachers follow the District’s Portrait of a Graduate sequence grades K-5. This month, our focus is on Positive Relationships. Students are learning about identifying about what a positive relationship should look, sound and feel like: “A relationship is a connection between two people, such as friendships or family members. A positive relationship is when two people act in a way that is respectful, fair, and helpful for both people in the relationship. Relationships should be fair and helpful. A positive relationship makes you feel safe and cared about. It should also make the other person feel safe and cared about.” Looking for a way to talk about positive relationships at home? Some classes are using kindness jars this month to talk about all the respectful, helpful, and kind actions that make them feel safe and cared for at school. Use the template below to try it out at home! Everyone in your family can write kind notes on the hearts in the paper jar.
