JB Nelson Families,

The weather changed this week and I want to remind all families that the children play outside unless the “feels like” temperature is below zero. For the most part, we will be outside throughout the cold months. When there is snow on the ground Ss need to be wearing snow boots, pants and a coat in order to play on the field or playground. Many children did not have gloves or mittens this week. Please make sure they have something for their hands and please make sure their names are on all of their winter gear in case they leave any of it behind!

There have been some recent injuries in both PE and recess that resulted from students wearing Crocs to play in. Students are expected to have a pair of gym shoes in their locker to change into for PE and recess. If students are wearing Crocs at PE or recess they will not be allowed to run in order to prevent them being injured.

The BHS Madrigals came to visit this morning and all students enjoyed hearing their carols! They even got to sing along at the end…video on Instagram if you need a little ‘pick me up’!

Stay warm this weekend, we will see you on Monday!

All students at JBN learn about social emotional skills in their daily classroom meetings.

All teachers follow the District’s Portrait of a Graduate sequence grades K-5.

This month, our focus is on Self-Awareness

Students are learning how to recognize and understand their own thoughts, emotions, and actions, and how they affect others.

This week…

Students in K-3 are learning about what it means to have flexible thinking and how it can help you be a good friend to others and be a problem solver!

Students in 4-5 are learning about types of communication. Communication is the way in which we engage with others.  Passive, Assertive and Aggressive communication styles are explored including how they make others feel and can impact how communication is received by others!
