JB Nelson Families,

As I shared last week, there had been some recent injuries in both PE and recess that resulted from students wearing Crocs to play in. Students are expected to have a pair of gym shoes in their locker to change into for PE and recess. If students are wearing Crocs at PE or recess they will not be allowed to run in order to prevent them being injured. THANK YOU for making sure that your child has their gym shoes in their locker this week. By the end of this week, students were all in appropriate shoes for PE and Gym. We appreciate your support in order to keep our students safe!

Next week we will have a schoolwide spirit week!

Please see the themes for each day below:

Our winter parties will be held on Friday from 2:20-3:00. Some of our classrooms still need support for their party and teachers have sent out emails looking for volunteers. Parents can sign up on the PTO website: https://jbnpto.membershiptoolkit.com/login by clicking on the Volunteer tab at the top of the home page.  As a reminder, the PTO has created the activity, craft and game for these parties so if you volunteer you do not have to purchase or prep anything, you just show up and support the students in participating!

Stay warm this weekend and we will see you on Monday!

~Mrs. Prentiss

All students at JBN learn about social emotional skills in their daily classroom meetings.

All teachers follow the District’s Portrait of a Graduate sequence grades K-5.

This month, our focus is on Self-Awareness

Students are learning how to recognize and understand their own thoughts, emotions, and actions, and how they affect others.

This week…

Students in K-3 are learning about what it means to have flexible thinking and how it can help you be a good friend to others and be a problem solver!

Students in 4-5 are learning about types of communication. Communication is the way in which we engage with others.  Passive, Assertive and Aggressive communication styles are explored including how they make others feel and can impact how communication is received by others!
