JB Nelson Families,
Thank you to all of the JBN parents that created our Halloween S.T.E.A.M. party activities and to all of the parents that volunteered to run our parties. The students had fun and we appreciated all of the support.
Our annual Veterans Day Celebration is coming up on Monday, Nov 11th.
If your child plans to have a Veteran attend on Friday, November 10, please click here to reserve your Veteran’s spot. Please complete the form by Monday, November 4th. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Avery at emma.avery@bps101.net
We invite all Veterans to a Breakfast that is hosted by our S.A.B. student leaders. Breakfast starts at 8:30 in the cafeteria. All guests will enter through Door S2 (the old entrance to the school).
We are looking for parent volunteers to bring in food/drink items for our Breakfast.
If you would like to contribute food to our breakfast, sign up through the Parent Portal on the PTO website to select an item you would like to donate.
Once you are logged in, go to “volunteer” and then drop down to Veterans Breakfast ‘24
After our breakfast we will hold an assembly in the Gym. As part of the Assembly, there is a slideshow of our Veterans. Please email emma.avery@bps101.net to include a picture of a loved one who is currently serving or who has served in the United States Armed Forces for our slideshow. We are only accepting these until Monday Nov. 4th.
Usually our PTO meeting would be held next Tuesday but since that is Election day we will hold our November PTO meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 12th instead. We meet at 6:30 in the LRC and child care is provided.
Enjoy your weekend and remember that Sunday is when we “fall back” an hour for Daylight Savings time!

All students at JBN learn about social emotional skills in their daily classroom meetings.
All teachers follow the District’s Portrait of a Graduate sequence grades K-5.
This month, our focus is on Self-Awareness
Students are learning how to recognize and understand their own thoughts, emotions, and actions, and how they affect others.
This week…
Students in K-3 are learning about thoughts including using thought bubbles to think about what others may be thinking based on what they observe and their own experiences.
Students in 4-5 are learning more about perspective taking and sharing times when they have had a different perspective in academic and social situations!
