JB Nelson Families,

Thank you to all families that joined us for our JBN Family Science Night last night! The students had a blast sharing their experiments, collections and research and then they all enjoyed the “bubble” presentation in the gym!

Each trimester our “Specials” teachers (Art, Music and PE) create a newsletter to showcase the learning that is happening in their setting. Check this out and talk with your children about what they have been working on in specials with these amazing educators!

All parents and guardians are invited to participate in the parent survey supplement of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. We guarantee that survey responses will never be connected to the identity of you or your child. School reports will only show aggregated information on how parents and students responded as a whole.

Our annual PTO Trivia night is coming up on Saturday, March 9th. This is an adult only event that is one of my favorite events of the year. Teams can come up with a fun name and dress up for prizes, bring their own food and beverages are available to be purchased at the event. All money raised goes directly to the Teacher Appreciation and the 5th grade Celebration at the end of the year!

4th & 5th grade students who are signed up for Battle of the Books are gearing up for the start of our local battles. All battles will happen during the school day. Good luck to all of our participants!

Treering allows you to customize your yearbook! Two free pages with your own photos and memories, plus $.99 for each additional 2 pages if you need them. Superintendent Tom Kim is looking for parents/guardians to join him in a Vision Session to share their ideas about the future of BPS101. The session will be conducted on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 8:15-10:15 AM. If you are interested, please RSVP by February 24th. Click Here to Register.

Current total: $167.60 ~ 5th grade is leading, followed closely by 3rd grade!

The Limited Time Bonus promos (see photo) are updated monthly! Receipts are valid to scan for 14 days from purchase date, and can be scanned from any account (so if you don’t scan yourself, just save your receipts for another parent who does)! The app also has a leaderboard to see which JBN grade level has the most tops scanned. Twice a year, our school receives a check from Box Tops to help pay for things, like events or activities for the kids.
