Every year, on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks. March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome.

Our all-girls running club was formed in 2015. In 2016, we expanded to include boys in the running club. This club is restricted to 4th and 5th graders only. Practices are held before school at JB starting in the gym with stretching and warm-ups. Running occurs inside on cold weather days or when weather is inclement, otherwise running takes place outdoors. The club’s culminating events in the fall and spring are the Batavia Batfest 5K and the Batavia Mothers Club Fox Trot 5K.
