Principal’s Message Do you follow us on Instagram? See what is happening at JB! Click here. All JBN events are on the JBN Parent calendar JB Nelson Families, Thank you for attending our Curriculum Night on Tuesday! It was so exciting to see all of you here supporting your children in launching their learning year. Our biggest fundraiser of the year is right around the corner! Each year the JBN PTO holds a Jaguar Jog. This year’s theme matches our Wishtree theme and is “We are Stronger Together”. The Jaguar Jog will be held on Thursday, October 2nd from 4:30-6:00. Our students had a chance to design the t-shirt and this year’s winner Elena was very excited when she was chosen. The way this fundraiser works is that families collect donations on behalf of their child and then all families are invited to the free event where students can run and participate in fun activities along the way. There will be a former JB parent as a DJ and JB staff will participate in a race while wearing inflatable costumes as the opening to the event! Here is the link to the shirt store and donation page. https://jbnpto. Here is the main Jaguar Jog link with all of the other information. https://jbnpto. ALL wishes from students in kindergarten through Fifth grade were hung on our Wishtree this week! Check out the post on the JBN IG account! We hope your family is enjoying the book! We will see you all on Monday where we will continue our “Mindful Monday” series for the year and we will continue to focus on Skills for Self Management. As always, please make sure your child charges their Chromebook so they are ready for learning! Mrs. Prentiss |

S.E.L. (Social Emotional Learning) School-Home connections to help students grow their SEL skills! BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 3-Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Programs BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 4-Family & Community Partnerships All students at JBN learn about social emotional skills in their daily classroom meetings. All teachers follow the District’s Portrait of a Graduate sequence grades K-5. For the months of August and September our focus will be on Self Management. Self-management is the ability to control your actions, emotions, and thoughts to make good choices. It means staying calm when frustrated, focusing on tasks, and practicing self-discipline. When you use self-management, you can set goals, make plans, and keep trying—even when things are difficult. This skill helps with schoolwork, friendships, and handling challenges. Learning to pause, take deep breaths, and think before acting is a powerful way to grow and succeed! Students are learning about classroom regulation spots to help with regulating emotions and behaviors in the classroom. All classrooms at JBN have a regulation spot for students to use tools to help them regulate! A strategy they learn about in the regulation spot are different breathing techniques. |
