All JBN events are on the JBN Parent calendar JB Nelson Families, Each class (K-5) at JB Nelson set a Dojo goal today! As your child what their class will be working on and how their class will celebrate when they reach their goal. As I mentioned in my email yesterday, students will earn class points with their classroom teacher toward a goal that the class is working on. Students can also earn Schoolwide points for making choices that reflect the JB Promise. These points can be awarded in hallways, specials and recess and will earn them points that they can redeem at the School Store once a month during recess. If your child is in 3rd-5th grade, their teacher will send home a QR code next week for you to join their class. This is completely optional and parents can see their child’s points with the “free” version. Last week we sent home information about the “Wishtree” book that all of us will be reading. “Save the date” for our Family Reading Night on Thursday Nov. 20th 5:45-7:30. ALL families will be invited to join in on fun activities aligned to the “Wishtree” book. Picture day is coming! Click for info In addition to the typical school pictures of your child, the whole school will take a Panoramic photo on the blacktop on Oct. 17th. If you would like to order a schoolwide photo, here is the link. This year the PTO is selling JB Spiritwear right away instead of waiting until November. Please note that there is a “Wishtree” t-shirt that all staff wore yesterday and all students will be able to purchase as part of our theme of “Belonging” this year. All PTO related sign up’s and gear are on the PTO website. Each parent needs to set up a free account in order to access information about our PTO events. Link to purchase spirit wear (Deadline has been extended to Sept. 1st) We do not have school on Monday due to the Labor Day holiday. We will welcome students back to school on Tuesday. S.E.L. (Social Emotional Learning) School-Home connections to help students grow their SEL skills! BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 3-Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Programs BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 4-Family & Community Partnerships All students at JBN learn about social emotional skills in their daily classroom meetings. All teachers follow the District’s Portrait of a Graduate sequence grades K-5. For the months of August and September our focus will be on Self Management. Self-management is the ability to control your actions, emotions, and thoughts to make good choices. Students are learning about classroom regulation spots to help with regulating emotions and behaviors in the classroom. All classrooms at JBN have a regulation spot for students to use tools to help them regulate! A strategy they learn about in the regulation spot are different breathing techniques. |

JBN PTO All JBN events are on our: BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 4-Family & Community Partnerships PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) website ALL JBN parents are automatically a part of the JBN PTO. BPS Strategic Plan Priority 2, Strategy 4-Family & Community Partnerships The PTO will meet in the LRC at 6:30PM on: August 19th September 2nd October 7th November 4th December 2nd January 13th February 10th March 10th April 14th May 12th (Off campus) Meetings are in the LRC and childcare is provided.
