JB Nelson Families,
We had a great week of learning this week! 5th grade completed the ISA tests and now we have a little rest before we complete the Spring Map tests.
Our second and third grade students performed at BFAC and did an AMAZING job! This wrapped up our performances for the year. All students in first through fifth grade had an opportunity to experience performing with an ensemble.
As we head into May, we have many events and traditions to look forward to…
Next week before school on Wednesday is our Bike & Roll to School event and after school is our Spring Social! There will be an art show, book fair, art activity in the lunchroom and the chorus will perform on the stage at the end of the night.
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week as well. Please refer to the information sent home in the Messenger yesterday and this flier that your child brought home. The flier that your child brought home has their teacher’s favorite color listed. The PTO still needs a few donations for the Tuesday Breakfast and Friday BBQ lunch. Thank you to everyone who already signed up to send in donations!
Friday, May 12th from 4:00-6:30 we will hold our annual “Fun Run”. This is the one schoolwide fundraiser that we hold each year to benefit the PTO. CLICK HERE for all information about this event. ALL students and siblings are invited to participate and the first 200 students will receive a “swag bag.” Money raised will support field trips for students and the PTO sponsored “free” events next year like Trunk or Treat! Our goal is to raise $6,500 and so far we have raised $2,266.
We hope you enjoy your weekend and we will see you on Monday!
~Mrs. Prentiss

Fun Run- Summer Sprint is Live!
Our biggest fundraiser of the year is now live and will remain open until 5/19/23. Create your child’s donation page on Membership Toolkit, or just donate to the main site. The Fun Run itself will take place on May 12th from 4-6:30p (stop by at any time). The Fun Run has been a successful way for extended family, friends, and neighbors to contribute to our JB Nelson community. This year we will have obstacles, games, and challenges for students to complete to earn prizes along the route. Families can sign up to be a “STOP” on the Summer Sprint. All students participating in the Summer Sprint, regardless of donations, will receive a free Swag Bag courtesy of the PTO Prowl.
Survey results
Thank you to those who participated in our very short survey about next year’s monthly PTO meeting days. Here are the results. We only had a total of 28 responses, however two of those chose, “any of these days work for me,” so we did not include those in the graph. Tuesday evening appears to be the preferred option.
Box Tops
(Current total: $185.10)
Twice a year, our school receives a check to help pay for PTO things, like experiences for the kids. Receipts are valid for 14 days. Make JB Nelson Elementary School your home school, and start scanning. Keep an eye out for Limited Time Bonus Promos, as well! The app also has a leaderboard so you can see which JBN grade level has the most Tops scanned. Download the apps here: Apple Store or Google Play Store
