JB Nelson Families,

Our students all enjoyed the solar eclipse viewing this Monday. Thank you for talking with your child about being safe during this event, everyone did a great job.

Our first through fifth grade students finished their roller skating unit and our PE teacher, Mr. Albrecht scheduled our JBN All School Skate! It will be held at Funway on Friday, April 19th from 4-6.

A flier was sent home this week, here is more information, it was also posted on Twitter.

Each spring our third through fifth grade students complete the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) test. Our third, fourth and fifth grade students will continue testing next week. Third and fourth grade students have one more test on Monday and fifth grade students will test every day next week. Please remind your child to charge their Chromebooks each night, get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast on these testing days.

This is the time of year that parents are invited to give input for the following year. Parents are welcome to send me an email sharing the teacher style that their child would benefit from. Please do not request teachers by name as I do not take teacher requests. Please send all emails to: nicole.prentiss@bps101.net

The deadline for parent input is Friday, April 26th as all class lists will be created and finalized in May.

Costume Options: Space themed or dark colors

Concert Materials: Available in your child’s Google classroom

How to order tickets:

Earned Free Student Vouchers (Yellow) for children who completed the March Madness 200 min Log went home on 4/4. You can still purchase tickets if your child did not participate.

To Order Tickets: Fill out the Google Form using the link (https://tinyurl.com/nhajc58m).

Send $ in an envelope marked COUGARS. Exact Cash/Checks payable to JBN.

Actual tickets purchased or earned will come home Thursday, May 9th with the oldest child at JBN.

DEADLINE TO ORDER ONLINE & SEND $ THROUGH JBN IS 4/15!

**After this time you will have to order on your own. There are always extra seats in the sections we sit in.

4th & 5th Grader Breakfast With Books

The LRC will be hosting a Breakfast With Books discussion on Tuesday, May 14th at 8am in LRC. Students in 4th and 5th grade are all invited to join. Please sign up using this form. Please email julie.phillips@bps101.net with any questions.

Box Tops: Goal: $200

Current total: $184.40 ~ 5th grade is leading, followed closely by 3rd grade!

The Limited Time Bonus promos (see photo) are updated monthly! Receipts are valid to scan for 14 days from purchase date, and can be scanned from any account (so if you don’t scan yourself, just save your receipts for another parent who does)! The app also has a leaderboard to see which JBN grade level has the most tops scanned. Twice a year, our school receives a check from Box Tops to help pay for things, like events or activities for the kids.
