JB Nelson Families,

Congratulations to our JB Nelson team, ‘Battling The Books’, for taking 2nd Place in the District Battle of the Books thai week! We are very proud of these students for their hard work and how they represented JB at this event.

If you have not ordered your yearbook yet, this is a great time to do so! Treering is our yearbook vendor, and they allow you to customize pages in your yearbook! Two free pages with your own photos and memories, plus $.99 for each additional 2 pages if you need them. These extra pages will appear only in your yearbook(s).

We are still looking for yearbook photos!

If you have any photos from class parties or PTO events, please email these to jbnyearbook@gmail.com no later than April 5th.

This is the time of year that parents are invited to give input for the following year. Parents are welcome to send me an email sharing the teacher style that their child would benefit from. Please do not request teachers by name as I do not take teacher requests. Please send all emails to: nicole.prentiss@bps101.net

The deadline for parent input is Friday, April 26th as all class lists will be created and finalized in May.

Opportunities for Students

EARN a ticket during Cougars March Madness

Game Plan:

Our school will be participating in the Cougars Reading Club, a reading incentive program sponsored by the Kane County Cougars baseball team. Your child will have the opportunity to improve his or her reading skills while earning a ticket to a Cougar’s game on JB Nelson game night on Thursday, May 16th. They will also receive a Cougars drawstring bag, a free hot dog and drink to enjoy during the game. To get a game ticket and goodies – Your child needs to read or listen to books for 200 minutes during March. Write the number of minutes you read each day on the calendar below. Add up the minutes read at the end of Spring Break. If you have any questions email julie.phillips@bps101.net.

4/4-Earned vouchers sent out

4/5-Newsletter will include a link to order tickets/parking

4/15 Cougars orders due to JBN

5/9- Tickets & Parking will be sent home

5/16- JB Nelson Night @ Cougars 6:30pm

K-2 STEAM CLUB

Does your child enjoy Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, or Math? If they do, the JB Nelson K-2 STEAM Club would be a great club for them! It will be held before school every Wednesday in April, from 8am to 9:00am. Space is limited to 25 students so sign up here! If you have any questions, contact Julie Phillips.

Box Tops

2023-2024 Goal: $200

Current total: $180.50 ~ 5th grade is leading, followed closely by 3rd grade!

Download the apps: Apple Store or Play Store and make JB Nelson your home school.

The Limited Time Bonus promos (see photo) are updated monthly! Receipts are valid to scan for 14 days from purchase date, and can be scanned from any account (so if you don’t scan yourself, just save your receipts for another parent who does)! The app also has a leaderboard to see which JBN grade level has the most tops scanned. Twice a year, our school receives a check from Box Tops to help pay for things, like events or activities for the kids.
