JB Nelson Families, We have a new staff member to welcome into the JB Nelson community! Katie DeCort was recently hired to serve as the new JB Nurse and has been getting on the job training last week and this week. She is enjoying getting to know our students and is excited to partner with parents to support students in her new role. Did you know you can create a fun Pizza night for your family with Little Caesar’s Pizza kits, breadsticks and cookies? This is a fundraiser for JB Nelson with $6 from every kit coming back to our PTO/PROWL organization. It ends on March 20th. You will have products delivered before Spring Break. This is an “adults only” event that is held at the Batavia Moose Lodge. Teams of 6-8 are encouraged to choose a fun theme, dress up and bring food as they compete! The Board of Education is seeking permission from voters to issue up to $140 million in school construction and renovation bonds on the April 4, 2023, ballot. Opportunities for Students (All of these events are also listed on the JBN Parent calendar) Save the Date: 1st Grade Concert Thursday April 13th at 7:00 PM JB Nelson Gym 2nd-3rd Grade Concert Tuesday April 25th at 7:00 Batavia Fine Arts Centre EARN a ticket during Cougars March Madness Game Plan: Our school will be participating in the Cougars Reading Club, a reading incentive program sponsored by the Kane County Cougars baseball team. Your child will have the opportunity to improve his or her reading skills while earning a ticket to a Cougar’s game on JB Nelson game night on Thursday, May 11th. They will also receive a Cougars drawstring bag, a free hot dog and drink to enjoy during the game. To get a game ticket and goodies – Your child needs to read or listen to books for 200 minutes during March. Write the number of minutes you read each day on the calendar below. Add up the minutes read at the end of March. Turn in your completed form to your child’s teacher by April 5th. In May, a form will come home to order additional discounted family tickets and parking passes. Tickets and vouchers will be handed out in May. Printed Reading logs were sent home last week! JBN Prowl Effortless Fundraising Here are a few easy ways to help the Prowl and our students with fundraising: Little Caesar’s Pizza Kits Create a fun Pizza night for your family with Little Caesar’s Pizza kits, breadsticks and cookies. Receipts are valid for 14 days. Make JB Nelson Elementary School your home school, and start scanning. Keep an eye out for Limited Time Bonus Promos, as well! The app also has a leaderboard so you can see which JBN grade level has the most Tops scanned. Download the apps here: Apple Store or Google Play Store Donate to the Prowl Donate to your PTO with a click of a button. Just visit the PTO website, scroll to the bottom and click DONATE. Your donations help fund teacher appreciation and other events. **2022/2023 Yearbook information** This year, we are using Treering for our Yearbook vendor. They allow you to customize 2 free pages with your own photos and memories, plus $.99 for each additional 2 pages if needed. How cool! These pages will only appear in your yearbook(s). Yearbooks can be ordered and custom pages can be purchased and edited until April 14th. Ordering after that date is possible, but will have additional shipping charges. Backpack MailBPS101 often receives requests from community organizations to distribute informational fliers to students in their backpacks. In an effort to be environmentally conscientious, we use an electronic format to deliver this information, which we call “Backpack Mail.” |
