JBN Incoming Kindergarten Building Tour Information
Parents of incoming JB Nelson Kindergarten students,
Hopefully this JBN Messenger finds you enjoying your summer as a family. It is hard to believe, but the start of our school year is right around the corner!
When I met with each of you at our registration event in the spring, I shared that there would be a tour for kindergarten families in August. We have officially scheduled our kindergarten tours for Friday, August 12th at 2:00 and 3:00. Each family needs to click on one of the links below to RSVP for their tour. Please only RSVP one time per family as they are limited respondents for each form.
The reason for this tour is twofold. We want to make sure that your children have experienced entering the building and have seen their teacher and their classroom before the first day of school. This supports them in feeling more ready to start school, as they will then have a familiar face waiting for them when they arrive in the classroom. Parents are not allowed to enter the kindergarten door and accompany their child to class on the first day of school so this also allows the parents an opportunity to see the classroom, meet the teacher and get a sense for the entire school building that their children will navigate throughout the school day.
The JB Nelson kindergarten tour will include:
- Arrival & dismissal procedures
- Time in the kindergarten classroom
- Ability to see the location of the Kindergarten Enrichment classroom
- Front office
- Gym
- Cafeteria
- Bus turnaround
- LRC (Learning Resource Center-AKA the library)
- Playground
The tour will last about 30 minutes and end on the playground. Children can play with “soon to be classmates”, while parents have an opportunity to ask the principal and teachers any questions they might still have after the tour concludes.
