JB Nelson Families,
Our JBN 5th grade ‘Battle of the Books’ team won the district competition this week! There was a tie and they had to go through two rounds of tie breaker questions in order to earn their win. We are so proud of their hard work.
We still have an opening for a Campus Monitor (aka lunch/recess supervisor)! One of our team needed to take a step back for personal reasons and we are looking for someone who loves kids and being outdoors. The hours are 11:10-1:1:30 and we have a really positive and supportive team that is fun to work with. If you or anyone you know is interested please call the office at (630) 937-8400.
The JBN PTO is excited to share that Trivia Night is coming back! This is a fun, adult only event that takes place at the Batavia Moose Lodge and will be held on April 23rd. All money raised goes to the PTO.
Your child should have come home with information about this event, please click here to learn more and purchase your tickets!
When we return from spring break we will be switching back to students having recess first. This allows students to move and get all of their energy out before they sit and eat their lunch. For students with food allergies, the school nurse has reached out to teachers and to lunch staff in order to make sure that they wash their hands and their classmates wash their hands when they return to the classroom. All other students will come in from recess and continue to eat lunch 6 ft apart in the two lunch locations. If you would like your child to wash their hands before they eat, they can use the nearby bathroom to do so. There are also hand sanitizer stations in both lunch settings for students to use as well.
It is hard to believe but it is time for us to begin to prepare for next year! Parents have the opportunity to email me with any requests for the type of teacher they would like for their child next year. I do not accept teacher requests by name, but you can share the type of teaching style they would benefit from. These requests need to be emailed to me by Friday, April 29th as we will be finalizing class lists in early May.
We hope you enjoy your spring break and we look forward to seeing our students on Monday, April 4th!
~Mrs. Prentiss
